rive push, --publish, and
--publish=web.
Building and previewing on your own machine and exporting from the Rive Editor are
unlimited and never count against the allowance.
Allowance by plan
Student plans and legacy paid plans have no monthly allowance. See
Pricing for what else each plan includes.
An action counts against the Workspace that owns the Rive file your project is bound
to (
push.fileId in rive.yaml).
If the project is not bound to a file, the action counts against your personal
Workspace. Your personal Workspace uses its own plan’s allowance, whichever Workspaces
you’re an editor in. To use another Workspace’s allowance, bind the project to a
file in that Workspace. Publishing a bound project from the CLI needs edit access to
that file.
What counts
Each action counts once:
A
.riv you publish to test on your own machine counts like any other publish.
A web publish counts once, as a publish. Uploading and hosting the page do not count
separately.
A publish counts as soon as it starts, even if a later step such as signing fails.
A push counts only when it completes, so a push that fails does not count.
What never counts
- Exports from the Rive Editor, on any plan.
rive pull, on any plan.rive build, which ships the project as an Android or iOS app, on any plan.- Work that stays on your machine: the preview window that rebuilds as you edit,
--serve,--verify,--test,--screenshot, andrive inspect. These make no calls to Rive. --rev. It needsrive login, but it does not count.- A push that fails, and a push that finds the file already up to date.
- Retries and status checks the CLI makes on its own during one action. Running the command again is a new action.
Monthly reset
The allowance resets at 00:00 UTC on the first day of each month. Actions you do not use in a month do not carry over to the next month.Warning before the limit
When 20% or less of the allowance is left, the CLI prints one warning per run. The warning shows how many actions are left and when the allowance resets:--publish --format=json, the warning is in warnings.
Past the allowance on Voyager
When a Voyager Workspace uses up its monthly allowance, CLI publishes and pushes continue on the Workspace’s top-up credits, the same credits the Rive Agent uses. Each action uses $0.01 in credits. The CLI tells you and your agent when an action was paid with credits and how much is left. When the credits run out, the CLI stops and links to where you can top up.When the allowance is used up
The CLI checks the allowance before a push starts. A push that fails this check sends nothing. The CLI stops the action and does not retry it. It prints the reset date and a link to upgrade, and exits with code9:
push.fileId.
With --publish --format=json, the message is in errors. The same answer is also in
the allowance field, with code, message, scope, limit, used, resetsAt, and
upgradeUrl. The field is null unless the allowance stopped the run.
Files you already pushed or published keep working. You can still pull, preview,
check builds with --verify, build apps, and export from the Rive Editor. To publish
or push from the CLI again before the reset, upgrade the Workspace
or, on Voyager, use top-up credits.
The monthly allowance is separate from the short-term rate limits on publishing,
which apply on every plan. See Publishing CLI Projects.
